It is the birthplace of sewage treatment in Japan, which has been designated as an important cultural property. Advance reservations are required, but even a small number of individuals can take a guided tour.

I went there for the first time when I heard that there was an azalea viewing party. We would like to ask you to give us a pamphlet, a gift, and even put a name plate for the "Tokyo Sewer Knowledge Team" on important points, and we will ask you to give a detailed explanation. It's very easy to understand. You can also see the inside of a brick building that has been designated as an important cultural property at the treatment plant that was used from 1911 to Heisei. The purpose was azalea, but the tour was very fulfilling. First-come-first-served azalea pot plants were also distributed free of charge. It is a facility where you can make a reservation and tour it for free, but it seems that there are other events such as cherry blossom viewing events and candle nights. In particular, it is recommended that you also go to a social studies tour with your child.

It is the remains of Japan's first modern sewage treatment plant built in 1922 and Taisho 11 and is designated as an Important Cultural Property. Reservations are required for the tour, but it is possible on the day if it is available. I was able to make a reservation the day before. The staff will guide you while explaining carefully for about an hour and a half. The classic building with brick tiles is impressive. I have to take off my hat in Tokyo City, which made such equipment in this era.

Japan's first sewerage treatment facility designated as a nationally designated important cultural property. Tours can be booked in advance (Tuesdays and Fridays are closed, so you can make a rare reservation on a similar facility on Saturdays and Sundays, but the competition rate will be higher depending on the time of year. No) is required. I had a tour on December 28, 2019, the last day of the year's release. There was also a purpose to get a manhole card (80-90% seems to be a manhole card), so I was one of them, but if there was no distribution of manhole cards I did not have to look in various ways so I could know about the facility There was not, and there was place that we could not enter if we did not make a reservation and learned about sewer in various ways. Since it is the first sewage treatment facility in Japan, it is a valuable facility where you can take in technologies from overseas and see the remnants before automation as it is now. It seems that there are only a few times a year (the cherry blossoms and azaleas bloom and the illuminations are held in the evening and only one day), but there are many visitors despite the short opening time.

On April 27, the first day of the 10-day holiday, we went to the Azalea viewing ceremony held at the former Mikawashima Sewage Disposal Station Canteen (Pump) Facility. This facility is a country designated important cultural property managed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Sewerage Bureau and is located in the Mikawajima Water Reclamation Center. It is a tasteful event that enjoys 220 azaleas, but the interest is the beautiful red brick pump room built exclusively in the Taisho era. If you make a reservation, you can visit the facility even from one person, but it is a valuable opportunity as it is a bit distracting. The flow of time really feels relaxed here. The former Mikawashima Sewage Disposal Site Tsutsutsubo facility started operations in Taisho 11 at the former sewage treatment plant located in the middle of the Sumida River. As a representative remains of Japan's first modern sewage treatment plant, it has high historical value and is designated as a National Important Cultural Property (Building). A series of structures such as a water blocking door room and a sedimentation basin are kept together while maintaining the oldness, and it seems to be an important cultural asset in order to know the composition of the facility. At the former Mikawashima Sewage Disposal Site, the water treatment facility was updated to the latest technology with the passage of time, but it seems that the pumping station facility remained in condition until its operation was stopped in 1999. At present, even more careful repairs and restorations were performed, and it was worthwhile. I got a manhole card ♪
