It is a valuable existence as one of the few full-scale wooden buildings in the early Showa period in the city, where the old city of Odate remains miraculously despite being hit by repeated big fires.

Adjacent to Keijo Park. When you press the doorbell ?, an elderly man will kindly welcome you and ask you to take a tour. In spite of the words, I visited the interior, which seems to have been luxurious at the time of construction. thank you. ?‍♂️

It's similar to the old Mitsui Family Shimogamo Bettei in Kyoto, so I thought I'd go someday, but I couldn't go, but I stopped by on the last day of the Kiritanpo Festival. I was prepared to close it, but it was open. The wood grain of the zelkova single-plate corridor is wonderful, and this building has a great commitment to fittings. I was able to climb the observatory, which is the most distinctive feature. The admission fee is free, so it can't be helped, but it was a pity that some lights weren't turned on and the air conditioning was exposed. (It seems that it is because the hall is rented to the tea party) In the future, when the new Odate City Government Building is completed, it seems that the lines and traffic of people will change, so I thought it would be good to take the entrance fee and get tea and sweets (like the villa mentioned above). ..

Disinfect, ring the intercom, and immediately fill in your name, address, and phone number. If you give it to the person in charge, you can have the temperature measured and observe it. Because it is small, it takes about 10 minutes to stay. I wonder if the shoji on the 2nd floor and the viewing platform on the 3rd floor are rare.

We visited on April 17, 2021. It was the private residence of Mr. Bunzo Sakurama, the last mayor. It is a Japanese-style building in the early Showa period, but there is also a Western-style room with some bay windows. The best feature is that the 3rd floor is an observatory where you can overlook the cherry blossoms in Keijo Park. It's a very luxurious building, but what surprised me most was that the board used in the corridor was a single board that was 12 meters long. Considering the length and width, I think I used a huge tree.

I visited for the first time at the debriefing session of the seismic retrofitting work of Ourokan, the venue for the seminar in Odate City. It started with a long-term investigation, and after quite a lot of design and construction, it was finally unveiled. I felt the difficulty of maintaining and preserving cultural properties. The building has intricately overlapping roofs, a beautiful exterior woven by intricate flat surfaces, interiors of toilets and Western-style rooms, a single board of a 12m corridor, a unique Japanese-style shoji wooden lattice, cranked stairs, and a 360-degree view. The interior design, such as the room, was full of highlights. However, it was a pity that I could only see about half of this time because the time for the debriefing session and the preview was short. At the end, I was forced to turn on the lights in the entire building and let me take a picture of the evening scenery. What a graceful thing about the lit and plastered Ourokan Estate. I'm really thankful to you.

The tour was excellent. I did not understand everything the guide said (I speak only little Japanese), but he kindly used simple words to explain the details of the house, even when I did not understand. Thank you once again for an awesome tour ;) Highly recomend to those interested in Japanese architecture.
