★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 大崎市民会館(旧古川市民会館)は、昭和41(1966)年竣功、武基雄の設計。
市民会館の外観の特徴ともなっているのが、外側の４つの三角形の構造物と、それによってつられている大ホールの屋根である。屋根は四方から引っ張られる形で構造的に安定し、少ない材料で合理的な構造となっている。
丹下健三作の国立代々木競技場と並ぶ、吊り構造の傑作である。
設計を担当した武基雄は、早稲田大学教授。門下に菊竹清訓などがいる。今は無いが、仙台市公会堂のコンペで一等を取り、丹下健三のライバルとも言われた。
市民会館は、古いとか狭いとか言われるが、モダニズム建築の傑作として再評価と後世への保存が望まれる。

Also characteristic of the appearance of the city center are the outer four triangular structures and the roof of the large hall that is anchored by it. The roof is structurally stable in the form of being pulled from all sides, and has a reasonable structure with less material.
It is a masterpiece of the hanging structure along with the National Yoyogi Stadium by Kenzo Tange.
Motoo Takeda, who was in charge of the design, was a professor at Waseda University. Kikutake Seikun etc. are under the gate. It is not at the moment, but it was said to be the rival of Kenzo Tange, taking first place in the Sendai City Public Hall competition.
Although the city center is said to be old or narrow, it is desirable to re-evaluate it as a masterpiece of modernist architecture and preserve it for future generations.
