Excellent place to go if you want to travel back in time. Make sure you take the stamp booklet at the counter and then stamp your booklet at each of the houses. A great place to go with the family.

My favourite place in Osaka!! The place was empty, no tourists, so it felt like our own private village. The staff were super friendly and used all the English they knew to explain everything to me - and anything else my Japanese friend helped translate. We spent maybe an hour sat in one of the houses by a fire speaking with the old woman who worked there. And the old man in the Shirakawa house told me about the history of the building, the family that lived there, and the silkworms they raised. There are many different types of traditional houses to explore in and out. We easily spend 2~3 hours there - and I'm rarely at a place more than 30mins!

This place is very quiet and never thought that its exhausting to follow the map and visit the Japanese old farm house one by one. There is several ceremonies (Tea ceremony, etc) by months that you can come and plants that you can see by the seasons.

Beautiful setting with very interesting household items. Some of the homes had a guide inside keeping the stovetop fire burning. The landscaping was authentic as well. It is all set inside a huge green park with little ponds and paths.

Interesting, quaint little place which is refreshing devoid of tourists, and in fact any other person at all. Exbibits olden homes of japanese peasants, with some houses open for exploration. Slightly lacking in english explanation, but most of the exhibits should be self-explanatory. Museum is a 15-20 min walk from the nearest station, so be prepared. Entrance fee 500Y. Your mileage may vary, but more or less an interesting place to spend an hour.

Very interesting place. The staff are nice and speak basic English. I learnt a lot of Japanese culture from them. However, not much resting places and you need to walk through the park to get to the museum. So, Try not to go in a hot day.

A fun place for family and friends. I highly encourage making your way up to the North end of Osaka. It’s near enough to Umeda so not too out of the way. It’s a fun place to see what old Japan looked like in different places and times. It’s great for tourists and was not crowded when we went. We also bought some local art!

This is really worth visiting. When I was there were so few visitors hence I could take my time and enjoy the farm houses without the tourist crowd like the other tourist places of interest. One can enter the old houses and enjoyed the space. This is children friendly museum. If you are traveling with Children, nearby there is the horse riding Center I believe it is open to children because it is part of the Hattori Ryokuchi Park.
