北側の塚は残念ながら拡幅工事のときに破壊されたようですが、南側の塚がほぼ完全な形で残っている大変貴重な一里塚です。榎の木は昭和20年に植え替えられた2代目ですが、しっかり根を張る榎は一里塚に良く植えられる樹木です。
国指定の文化財にもなっています。
