野生の猿やカブトムシなどの昆虫以上にとてもレアな動物が出現する事もあるそうです。
I am overwhelmed by the landscape.

高さ87メートルの重力式コンクリートダムで、荒川水系では最も堤高が高いダムである。
大石川及び荒川下流の治水と荒川水力電気による水力発電が目的の特定多目的ダムであり、1967年（昭和42年）の羽越豪雨を契機に建設された。
ダムによって形成された人造湖は河川名と地名を採っておおいし湖と命名された。
A dam under the direct control of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, which is managed by the Hokuriku Regional Development Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
It is a concrete gravity dam with a height of 87 meters and has the highest bank height in the Arakawa River system.
This is a specific multipurpose dam for the purpose of flood control of the Oishi River and Arakawa downstream and hydroelectric power generation by Arakawa hydroelectricity, and was built after the heavy rain of Uetsu in 1967 (Showa 42).
The artificial lake formed by the dam was named Ooishi Lake after the river name and place name.

大石ダムと言うと、荒川が氾濫した羽越水害を思い出します? 私は直接は知らないけど、胎内市の童女石や荒川からかなり離れている阿賀野市の今板温泉の所にも『救難地蔵』とゆう羽越水害で亡くなった方を供養するお地蔵様や、その時流れて来た大きな岩も見たことがあったので、大石ダムのお陰で今は良くなったんだよなぁ?としみじみしながらダムを眺めて来ました。 ダムの左岸にトンネルがあり、確かその中に関川村の『大したもん蛇祭り』の藁で出来た大蛇が天井から吊るしてあったような…もう20年近く前に子供達を連れて来たことがあったので、何だか懐かしくなり行ってみよう❗と思ったのですが、今日は台風の影響で風がかなり強くてダムを渡るのもなんだか怖くて止めときました?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 駐車場上にも下にもあります。天端は車両通行止めです。左岸に謎トンネルあります。ダムカードもらえるらしいが、行ったときはコロナ云々でもらえなかった。
