その内容とは1回戦に茨城県の藤代高校と対戦。初回にいきなり8点を奪われてしまう。しかしそれでも大垣日大は徐々に点数を返していき試合後半でついに10対10の同点に。試合の流れはもはや大垣日大にあったと言わんばかりに8回に野崎選手がついに逆転となる2ランホームランを放ち試合は12対10で大垣日大の勝利となった。この8点差大逆転劇は1997年の市船橋高校に並ぶ大会記録タイであった。
