★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our favorite temple visit in Yanaka. There is space to walk around. The small tori gate path is one of the longest and nicest we saw during our stay. Great to take picture. Not so crowded also. Maybe we were lucky.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This Place is underrated, the location itself is a bit far from station approx 7 mins walk and on suburban. But the ambiance is so serene and peaceful as not so many tourists know this place. It has small Koi pond, small torii gates (not as big as Hie Shrine) and azalea garden on special season. The azalea garden was closed due to the season and planting of the flowers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I love visiting this shrine anytime of a year. Quiet, compact and relaxing. However, the best time is late April, the azalea flower season. This shrine is very crowded during this season. Azaleas of various colors are planted on the slope, and it is wonderful to see from the bottom, but if you pay the entrance fee of the azalea garden (200-300 yen I thought), you can walk the path among the azaleas. Be sure to walk this path during the azalea season. The azalea is so vivid that it feels like walking in a dream.
Apart from the azalea garden, there are places where you can enjoy a lot of red torii gates, as you can see in Kyoto. In addition, you can enjoy the approach to the main gate of the shrine with small shops delicious Udon "Nenotsu".
