★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 名取大塚山古墳は、県内で4番目に大きい全長90m、後円部径60m・高さ8.5m、前方部の長さ30m・高さ2.3mの前方後円墳です。後円部は三段築成で埴輪や葺石を伴い、前方部は後円部に比べて極端に低く小さくなっています。このような形の前方後円墳は、帆立貝式、または柄鏡式古墳と呼ばれています。 造られた年代については、発掘調査が行われていないため明らかではありませんが、古墳の形や発見された埴輪などから推定すると、５世紀の中頃から後半にかけてと考えられます。
Natori Otsukayama Kofun is the fourth largest front-rear burial mound in the prefecture with a total length of 90 m, a rear circle diameter of 60 m and a height of 8.5 m, and a front part length of 30 m and a height of 2.3 m. The rear circle is a three-tiered structure with haniwa and butterbur stones, and the front is extremely low and small compared to the rear circle. Keyhole-shaped tumuli of this shape are called scallop-type or patterned mirror-type tumuli. The date of construction is not clear because no excavation has been conducted, but it is thought to be from the middle to the latter half of the 5th century, estimated from the shape of the tumulus and the discovered haniwa.
