赤生津遺跡は，市の北部にあり，泉区役所の南西0.8kmに位置する。七北田川左岸の最低位の河岸段丘上に立地する。標高は約21mであり，面積は約90,400㎡で東西220m，南北100mの範囲に広がっている。昭和63年(1988)に，七北田公園造成に伴う調査が仙台市教育委員会により行われ，縄文時代の遺物包含層と土坑6基，焼土遺構6基，火山灰に覆われた平安時代の水田跡，中世・近世の遺構と遺物が発見されている。縄文時代の遺物包含層からは，早期末から前期初頭・中期・後期の遺物も少量出土しているが，晩期後葉の土器がまとまって出土しており，この時期の土器編年を考える上で良好な資料である。

The Akaotsu site is located in the northern part of the city, 0.8km southwest of the Izumi Ward government office. It is located on the lowest river terrace on the left bank of the Nanakita River. A small amount of relics from the end of the early period to the beginning of the early period, the middle period, and the late period have been excavated from the Jomon period relic inclusion layer, but the pottery of the late late leaves has been excavated collectively, so when considering the pottery chronology of this period.
