M	Majji on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Super cool mall selling all sorts of pop culture merchandise from the 70s till now. They have really old school stuff like ultra man, sailormoon and really vintage toys. They also have Disney merchandise as well. There is also an underground wet market that sells fresh seafood and meat. This place is perfect if you like collecting figurines, merchandise of your favourite characters or bear bricks! I really enjoyed myself and I would go back again just to see what else is being restocked.

Would recommend the place for collectors and geeks or for those who want to flee Akihabara and its flocks of tourists. Note that this place is also getting more and more reknowed so the prices for collector figurines are rising
A	Alan Young on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ How can a day is enough to shop here? Seriously what you really do is stay in a hotel as close as possible, stay for a week and maybe. Just maybe you are able to see everything. This is the top place to shop for Japanese toys, figures, CDs, books, animate, any Japanese pop culture things you can think of. The king of pop culture shop is called Mandarake. They have everything you can think of, and they have like 10 or more stores in this place. Beware they do have the most complete inventory but it's very pricey.

The quality of the mall is really lacking, narrow and long corridors, short heights. But rather than taking from the experience it actually brings it to another bizarre level. Worth visiting for fun.

Akihabara is the center of otaku culture and I have been there many times. I recently learned that there are also many otaku shops in Nakano Broadway, a shopping area close to the train station. I decided to go check it out since I was in the area. There were many stores located on three floors of an older building. I learned that this was one of the first modern shopping malls in Japan and opened in 1966. After more than half a century, there are definitely some signs of decay. Nevertheless, I was happy to explore the mall and was excited to find some vintage Ultraman items. By the way, Ultraman made his debut in 1966 too. “Shuwatchi”!
