★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 南長岡ガス田は、新潟県長岡市の南西約10kmに位置する国内最大級の埋蔵量を誇る大型ガス田であり、同ガス田の天然ガスは、国内最深の深度4,000～5,000mの深部火山岩中に含まれています。
この大型ガス田の開発の歴史は、1970年代後半から始まります。当社は新潟県で、グリーンタフ（緑色凝灰岩層）中に貯留される天然ガスの探鉱を進めていましたが、1976年、長岡市西方でグリーンタフ中にガスの存在を確認し、有望なガス鉱床発見の端緒を得ました。その後さらなる試掘と様々な技術的検討を重ねた結果、1981年に開発を決定し、生産井の掘削やプラント（天然ガス生産処理施設）建設を進め、1984年に国内最大級の能力を有する越路原プラントを竣工し、生産を開始しています。
南長岡ガス田で生産される天然ガスは、プラントで処理した後、パイプラインネットワークを通じて沿線の都市ガス事業者及び工業用需要家の皆様へ販売しています。

After further exploratory drilling and various technical studies, the development was decided in 1981, the excavation of production wells and the construction of a plant (natural gas production processing facility) were promoted, and in 1984, Koshiji, which has one of the largest capacities in Japan. The original plant has been completed and production has started.
Natural gas produced in the Minami-Nagaoka gas field is processed at the plant and then sold to city gas companies and industrial consumers along the pipeline through the pipeline network.
