Hokke Sect temple. A splendid mountain gate with the paulownia crest carved out. The garden is well maintained and feels fresh. The main hall is also very good. Worth a look.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 今から４００年程前徳川家康の若き日の夫人西郷の局が、祖霊供養のため護持していた由緒ある妙向寺を愛知県から現在の土浦市沖新田へ移転したのが始まりと伝えられています。
宗派は法華宗陣門流、立派な本堂を始め境内は朝早くから専属の造園社とご住職ご夫妻で庭園、植栽の管理を施しておりお寺を訪れた方の目を和ましてくれている。墓地内もごみ１つ落ちてなく、手入れがかなり行き届いていて気持ちが良い。
