This is a rustic and traditional style ryokan in a quaint little town. The owner is incredibly helpful. He drove us to places he wouldn't normally shuttle people to (eg. rental shop and train station) and also helped us find restaurant locations we wanted to go to. He was completely accommodating. The onsen is also really nice if only a bit small.

A great place for our family of six to stay. Our host was exceptional. Nothing we asked for help with, including lifts to the ski fields, was too much. A real gentleman

We could not have asked for a better place to stay during our February ski trip to Myoko. Our aim was to visit a number of different ski hills in the region and Kofukan was an ideal base; set in a laid back village on the East side of the valley, the traditional understated Japanese style of the place, views towards the rising morning Sun, and unbelievable onsen provided all we required. The manager of Kofukan perfected our stay with knowledge, transport to the slopes, and his wonderful character. Subarashi!! Of note are the few, very enjoyable Japanese restaurants in the area, close proximity to the train station, and ample gear/ski storage at the hotel.

Great bang-for-your-yen - spacious, comfy tatami rooms and the onsen was true to the photos. Good place to relax but those looking for apres ski might do better elsewhere due to its location far from the bars. The morning breakfast turned out to be standard Japanese (Grilled fish, rice, miso soup) which wasn't really my thing. There is a nearby bus that runs to Akakura Onsen but taking a taxi-bus cost the same, more or less, when you divide it between your group.

We enjoyed staying here for 3 nights in winter. The staff are very hospitable, the rooms comfortable and the onsen amazing after a day in the snow. The hotel building looks a little tired in places and in need of some extra TLC. Apart from that it's a legit Japanese experience staying here!

Stayed here for 3 nights , about 10mins drive to all the ski resorts nearby. Hotel is a bit old but generally clean and functional. Decent Onsen though a bit small. The food is excellent. Opted for the half board package and both breakfast and dinners are very good indeed. The service is excellent. Hotel provides shuttle service daily to the ski resorts. One tip though , not all rooms comes with private bathrooms/toilets. Ample toilets outside the room nearby and for bathroom ,using the Onsen is the better option anyway. A great experience indeed staying at a Ryokan .
