The mugi toro set 麦とろ has barley rice which you eat with grated yam, good tofu, and an interesting squid and radish dish. Be sure to ask for plum wine (ume shu) straight or on the rocks, which is homemade and the touch of sweetness makes it almost like a brandy. If you can speak Japanese you just might make friends with the mix of locals and visitors who frequent here.
