大村鉱山(マンガン)跡鳥取市用瀬町赤波の南方から杉森及び板井原に至る赤波川渓谷及びその支流杉森川渓谷に沿って、北から南へ大平(おおなる)、松下、上段、大立岩、大熊、小石ｹ谷(おいしがたに)、大村、滝谷、妙ケ谷などの鉱床が分布し、これらは一括して大村鉱山と呼ばれていました。中でも主たる大村鉱床は板井原と杉森の分岐点(通称「出合い」)から杉森川に沿う県道を上流に600m程上った対岸（右岸）にあり、昭和29年(1954)頃から40年(1965)初めまで採掘されていました。ちなみに出荷量は、昭和33年度に672t、昭和34年度に357tあったとされ、東大阪市の辻中鉱業株式会社（大阪府東大阪市中石切町７丁目１−４５）により経営されていました。しかし、海外の鉱山開発に伴い、安価な鉱石の輸入が可能となり、当鉱山は閉鉱。今では県道沿いの川向こうの山肌に数か所の坑口跡をとどめるだけです。（鳥取市用瀬町　大村地区まちづくり協議会）
