以前訪ねた下市・岡峯古墳と同じ石棚が石室内に設えられた事を特徴とする古墳で、この特徴は紀ノ川河口近く・岩橋千塚古墳群に多く見られるもので、この辺り・平群谷を治めた紀氏・平群氏との関連性があるのかもしれません。
Heguri / Sanri Kofun
It is an old burial mound that has the same stone shelf as the Shimoichi / Okamine burial mound that I visited before. It may be related to Mr. Ki and Mr. Heguri who ruled.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 6世紀後半か、末葉に築造された、前方後円墳か円墳。大きく削られていてわからないようですね。剥き出しの石室も墳丘も痛々しい感じ。両袖型横穴式石室で、奥壁に石棚があるのが珍しいです。案内板もしっかりありますが、近所の民家の敷地内みたいな風情で…イマイチ感動感が…
