越人と吉田の驛にて
寒けれと二人旅寝そたのもしき 芭蕉
貞享４年（１６８７）、〔笈の小文〕の旅において、米取引で罪を得た杜国（芭蕉の愛弟子）を保美（田原市保美町）に訪ねる途中で詠まれた句。
〔笈の小文〕には、
まづ越人に消息して、鳴海より跡ざまに二十五里尋かへりて、その夜吉田に泊まる
とあり、この句が出てくる。
近くの豊橋（豊橋の名前の元 － 少し位置が変わっている － になったと言われる）を渡ったところの〔聖眼寺〕にも芭蕉句碑（松葉塚）がある。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 豊川沿い、旧東海道とよばし近くに鎮座する神明社。672年の創建といわれ、かつての吉田城下最大の祭事であり伊勢神宮に絹の衣を献上する『御衣祭』がいまだに行われる由緒正しき神社です。御衣となる『おんぞ』を作る、三ケ日の「初生衣神社」を参拝してからこちらを参拝すると、実際の流れを感じれるかも。
国の登録文化財の湊築島弁天社が鎮座する弁天池とその苑もまたみどころです。
御朱印は不明です。ちゃんとした社務所がありますので、しかるべき時にはもらえるかもです。5月の第二土曜日がおんぞ祭りの日です。
Kamimeisha, located near Toyokawa, in the vicinity of the former Tokaido. It is said to be the foundation of 672 years, and it is a historical shrine that is the largest festival of the former Yoshida Castle and offers the silk costume to Ise Jingu Shrine.
