It was an old burial mound that you wouldn't notice without an explanation. Don't forget to repel insects in the summer.

Ancient tombs in the mountains. It is difficult to visit the posterity, but it would have been more difficult to build.

The Nansha Kofun is located on the hillside of Mt. Higashiya, and is a two-tiered tumulus with a diameter of 30m. The upper part of the slope is made of round gravel, the lower part is made of square gravel, and there is a row of haniwa on the terrace. There are cylindrical haniwa, morning glory-shaped haniwa, and shield-shaped haniwa. The cylindrical haniwa has a triangular through hole, which is said to be in the middle of the 4th century, which is the same period as the Nakayashiro Kofun. The Nansha Kofun is located in the middle of the Togokusan walking path that connects Togokusan Fruit Park and Owaribe Shrine. There are four burial mounds on the Togokusan walking path: Owaribe Shrine burial mound, Nakayashiro burial mound, Minamisha burial mound, and Togokusan No. 27 burial mound. Of these, the Owaribe Shrine tumulus, Nakayashiro tumulus, and Minamisha tumulus are designated as national historic sites.

2022 (Reiwa 4th year) 3/7 12: 00 ~ It is an old burial mound on the way to the Togokusan Fruit Park or the summit of Togokusan. The hiking trails are well maintained, but I think it's safe to wear at least trekking shoes. Various ancient burial mounds are scattered around Mt. Higashiya and the Shimoshidami area, and I think it is a very attractive place for people who like history and burial mounds. Below is an overview of the tumulus Mound burial mound (diameter about 30m) There is Fukiishi (round gravel, square gravel) Excavated relics: Cylindrical haniwa, morning glory-shaped haniwa, shield-shaped haniwa Construction time: Mid 4th century The mound is a two-tiered structure, and the stone material of Fukiishi is used properly, with the upper slope being pebbles and the lower slope being gravel. It is noteworthy that the round gravel was collected from the terraces at the foot of Mt. Higashiya, and the gravel was collected from the top of Mt. increase. The cylindrical haniwa has not only the same form and manufacturing technique as that of the Nakayashiro burial mound, but also the elemental composition of the soil used by scientific analysis has been found to be similar, and the haniwa of both burial mounds is produced integrally. It is believed that it was done.

A fantastic walk up the hill to see three of the oldest tumuli in the region. Great view of the city from the nearby observation deck. Well worth it.
