When I was a university student, I was doing calligraphy in club activities, but in my ten years since I became a member of society, I didn't have a place to learn calligraphy. I wanted to work on calligraphy again last year and joined this class. In addition to being taught once a week at the meeting, you can learn the history of calligraphy at the workshop, have classes on ink and ink, and not only write, but also be immersed in the cultural atmosphere. I feel like I was back in my school days. I feel that I was able to secure a fulfilling time in my future life by being in a classroom where I can write and write with ink.

In addition to the monthly assignments, you can learn calligraphy in a fun and deep manner, such as round fan and calendar production, study groups, etc. Also, the teacher will give instruction that takes the individuality of the students very important. There are discoveries and notices that I could not do if I continued calligraphy alone, and I learned a lot of things besides calligraphy. I was doing calligraphy during my school days, but I wanted to continue calligraphy even when I became a member of society. I joined calligraphy class for the first time, but I think it was really good that I could continue calligraphy in this class. .

I took daily lessons at this school for about two months. I entered Japan on a Cultural Activities Visa to study Shodo at this school for one year. I worked very hard, day and night, but it was difficult to make progress because the teacher (who owns and runs the school) was arrogant and would not even look at my work if she wasn't in the mood, so sometimes I would work for hours and receive no instruction. Often she would mock my work with contempt. Such was her way. She had a bad temper and spent much of the time she should have been teaching on her phone and tablet. Her attitude towards her students was unprofessional. I had to leave early from a lesson one evening because of an upset stomach and she lost her temper and sent me an email saying I was not to return and that the 45000 yen I had paid her in advance for a third month plus 5000 yen for an exam would not be returned. This put my visa in jeopardy. Fortunately I was able to enroll at The Japanese Society for Calligraphy Education and have been happily studying there for the past 4 years, making steady progress. The teachers are all masters of Shodo and are patient and caring. My previous teacher had not achieved the rank of master in Shodo and was only qualified to teach high school students.

I studied calligraphy under Nishiguchi-sensei for one year on a Cultural Activities visa. The course certainly took a great deal of hard work and dedication, but with the teacher's gentle guidance, I was able to make rapid progress in my writing. Thanks to her instruction, I started as a complete beginner, and finished the year at a 2-dan rank. Making progress in calligraphy is largely dependent on one's focus, and the classes are designed to maximize the time for such personal practice. The two classrooms of the school are both quiet and calm, creating an environment perfect for concentration. Nishiguchi-sensei helps students on an individual basis, providing critical and insightful feedback, timed just right so as not to overwhelm the student with too much information, while being enough to understand where one needs improvement. This is an ideal learning environment for calligraphic practice, as it provides the perfect balance of time for self-reflection and analysis, along with gentle pointers when necessary to adjust course and correct mistakes before they become too ingrained in one's calligraphic habits. If you are serious about studying calligraphy, you should strongly consider doing so at this school.
