この辺りは、東の関ヶ原の戦いの場所にもなった、長谷堂城跡の近くに位置しており、お蕎麦屋さんなども多いですから、観光がてらに訪れる手もあります。
また、南の上山方面、西の寒河江方面にもアクセスが良く、途中休憩にも適しています。
公園の中にある、小丘に登れば、蔵王や、月山、そして、この辺りで有名なピラミッド型の山である、富神山を望むことが出来ます。
