安永6年(1777年)建立。
大山道はかつて農業用水であった次大夫堀沿いに走る。「南」大山道とあるのはこの付近では道が北側にも並行していたため。
以下は世田谷区発行の「大山道マップ」の記述。
次大夫堀脇の道標(庚申塔)
安永6年(1777) 瀬田村の講中に建立され、道しるべを兼ね『南大山道、右東目黒通、左西赤坂道』と刻んであります。

Built in Anei 6 (1777).
Oyamado runs along Jidaiobori, which was once agricultural water. The reason why it is called "South" Oyamado is that the road was parallel to the north side in this area.

It was erected during the course of Seta Village in 1777, and is engraved with "Minami Oyama Road, Right East Meguro Dori, Left West Akasaka Road" as a guide.
