There is an exhibition about the Matsuo Mine, which was called the paradise on the clouds. There are many materials from the dawn to the glory and the end. Not to mention minerals and living culture, I had an interesting tour of exhibits in the transportation field such as iron ropes and railways. Admission is free.

Although it is a small museum, it is a valuable place to tell the history of Matsuo Mine. I think it's quite worth seeing. I think you can learn and think about the repeated rise and fall of Japan in the modernization of Japan. Currently, only the ruins remain. Pictures of people who lived in "Midorigaoka housing complex" at that time are on display. You can remember the old days of the Matsuo Mine, which once had a spectacular era. Isn't it an important museum that conveys the modern history of Iwate in Japan? --------------- If you visit the "Museum", how about visiting the "former Matsuo Mine Midorigaoka housing complex", the site of the residence of Matsuo Mine officials? "Midorigaoka housing complex" is When you climb the "Aspite Line". Tunnel ... or snow canopy? In front of. From the road surface of "Aspite Line", hide in the hills. The ruins of the former "Mammoth Complex" remain. I hope you can see this as well if you have the opportunity. (I think it is important to actually "see" and "experience" things that remind us of the appearance of yesteryear.) However, it is a so-called ruin (I think it is managed). Please be modest and never enter the controlled area.

Is it a small museum? I visited the museum as a group and showed me around the museum. I was sorry that I was able to visit for free.

I learned something The development and decline of the Matsuo Mine, mining methods, pollution problems and neutralization facilities on the Kitakami River, and the activities of the people living there are explained in an easy-to-understand manner with documentary images, exhibits, dioramas, and photographs at that time. Is the famous ruined housing complex the residence of the person who was mining sulfur and his family? The Kitakami River dyed reddish brown ... The River of Death ... That was more than 50 years ago ... Industrial pollution was everywhere.

Great to see Matsuo Mine People's life! You can see the people's life who lived up in the mountain where was used to be a mine site in Hachimantai. You'll be surprised how big and prospered it was.
