Maizuru Chatta Festival is held in late July at a bay area next to the Red Brick Park. This annual festivity is scheduled on the last Saturday and Sunday of July. It was named after the local dialect of Maizuru and organized by the local community of this area. It was first held in 1975 and continued on to this day. The final part of its festivity closes with a massive fireworks shot from ships anchored in the bay. There is a participation of Russian crew of a ship anchored around this time of the year along with Maritime Self Defense Force of Maizuru. The area of a park next to the bay has a large space for you to sit on the grass and relax while viewing its showtime. On the other side is a long line of festival stalls.
