You might not have much to pick from but if you want a cheap meal at the end of your day you can't go wrong stepping in. The payment method can be confusing to foreigners, as it's a mixture of self service and getting rung up. The person at the scanner will still scan your items for you, but then directs you to a self service payment kiosk where you pay. After that there is another area where you can bag your stuff as well. This is pretty common in Japan but I've seen multiple people get confused. Worst case scenario they will point you to where you go to next.
