The "Utsugisawa Weeping Sakura" in the precincts of Kuraishizawa, Gonohe Town is lit up, and the graceful cherry blossoms floating in the dark night create a fantastic atmosphere. The cherry blossoms are over 100 years old and have a trunk circumference of about 3.3m and a height of about 17m.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 枝垂れ桜と謂われるが、エドヒガン系の枝垂れ桜とは樹形が全く違う。
枝垂れるというよりは、天蓋のように横に広がりながら枝先が下がるという樹形で。ライトアップした状態で樹下に入ればサクラの花のドームにはいったような気がする。わかりにくい場所ではあるが、探し求めて一見する価値はある。
It is called a weeping cherry tree, but its tree shape is completely different from that of the Edohigan weeping cherry tree.
Rather than weeping, it is a tree shape in which the tip of a branch goes down while spreading horizontally like a canopy. If you go under the tree with it lit up, you will feel like you are in the dome of cherry blossoms. It's a confusing place, but it's worth a look.
