イメージとしては、原付スクーターでも楽勝で通れる道。
急げは30分で湯まで行ける。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 林道はここで終了で、三条の湯まで3、40分。しかし小屋の運搬機が荷物を運ぶために道はすべて砂利道でなだらかになっているのでハイキング気分でいけるだろう（冬季をのぞく）。ここの登山口には登山届を出すポストがないので奥多摩あたりで出しておく必要がある。
The forest road ends here, and it takes 3 and 40 minutes to reach Sanjo no Yu. But all the roads are smooth with gravel roads as the shed haulers carry their luggage, so you can feel like hiking (except in winter). There is no post to report the climb at the climbing entrance here, so it is necessary to put out around Okutama.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Though the hike to Mt Kumotori is just 5 kms from here, but one has to walk over 6 kms on a paved forest road from Katakura valley gate (片倉谷ゲート) At present the gate is closed for public and it’s too much of a walk to reach the start of actual hike.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The parking lot at the trailhead has a bathroom and there are many parking spaces. However, it doesn't have any vending machines, so if you're stocking up on water or drinks you'll want to do that down at the main highway. For those coming to the trailhead by bus, you'll have to walk up the hill from the highway to the trailhead, which takes around 15 minutes.
