「大事な神社ですのでご参拝をお願いします」とのことで徒歩で向かいました。
静かな神社です。

延文3年（1358年）山形城主斯波兼頼公が行蔵院阿闍梨をつかわし、紀州熊野大権現を勧請し城内に祀ったことを草創とします。斯くて行蔵院を別当に補し、社領150石を寄進し、その後元和7年（1622年）最上義俊公の時代、現在地の六日町にご動座され山形城の鬼門鎮護の社として鎮座されました。また、慶安元年（1648年）には、徳川家光公より社領150石の朱印を給与され、徳川幕府の存続と天下泰平・国家安穏を毎年8月15日に祈願されてまいりました。祭祀は代々行蔵院が奉仕してまいりましたが、明治維新の折神仏分離の改革に伴い、明治4年熊野権現を熊野神社と改称し、平成20年には創建650年の節目を祝い、社殿改築、参道・境内整備を行い現在にいたっております。
境内には夫婦欅があり、夫婦円満のご利益があるとのことです。

After that, in the era of Yoshitoshi Mogami in 1622, he was moved to Muikamachi, his current location, to protect the demon gate of Yamagata Castle. It was enshrined as a company. In the first year of Keian (1648), Tokugawa Iemitsu gave him a red stamp of 150 stones of the company territory, and he prayed for the survival of the Tokugawa Shogunate and Taihei Tenka and national peace on August 15 every year. .. The ritual has been served by Gyozoin for generations, but with the reform of the Meiji Restoration's separation of Shinto and Buddhism, Kumano Gongen was renamed Kumano Shrine in 1884, and in 2008 it celebrated the 650th anniversary of its founding. We have renovated the shrine and improved the approach and precincts to the present.

山形城の鬼門鎮護社として鎮座されたそうです。
街中ですが静かなところで、数々の木々や池等があり公園のようです。夫婦欅が圧巻ですね。高い大きな欅が寄り添っております。今回は紅葉した木々が映えておりますが、季節により色々な移り変わりが見えるようです。
南側近くの里之宮湯殿山神社で御朱印がいただけます。
