船を待つ間、読んでいました。
新美南吉の生家も割と近くだったと思いますが、こういう児童文学的なものが育まれる土地柄なのでしょうか。
河和・河和口・野間の海水浴場にシンボルとしてあったものがこちらに移動し一箇所に集められたようです。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 昭和30年ごろにこの辺のビーチが人気で子供たちもかっぱのように元気に泳いで欲しいとの願いからかっぱのキャラを推したがいつのまにか廃れて平成22年にかっぱの家族を再集結させたようです

星を5にしたけど普通に銅像立ってるだけだからオススメではないかもね
