かつて付近に手古塚古墳があったとされていますが、見当たりませんでした。
The Tekozuka Inari Shrine, the stairs can be easily climbed at about 20 steps.
It is believed that there was a Tekozuka burial mound nearby, but it was not found.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ この手古塚神社には、かつて「手古塚古墳」という前方後円墳があった。この古墳から出土した三角縁神獣鏡(さんかくぶちしんじゅうきょう)と同じ鋳型で作られた青銅鏡が、島根県の造山古墳から出土しているとの由。今日の金属製品のように同じ鋳型から作られた青銅鏡が、千葉県と島根県という700kmも離れた土地に存在したというのは興味深い。

At this Tekozuka Shrine, there used to be a front-rear burial mound called "Tekozuka Kofun". It is said that a bronze mirror made with the same mold as the triangular-rimmed beast mirror excavated from this ancient burial mound was excavated from the Tsukuriyama ancient burial mound in Shimane Prefecture. It is interesting that bronze mirrors made from the same mold as today's metal products existed in Chiba and Shimane prefectures, 700 km apart.

手古塚古墳は、4世紀に造られた長さ約60mの前方後円墳だったようです。
Tekozuka Inari Shrine is built in the place where the Tekozuka Kofun was.
The Tekozuka tumulus seems to have been a front-back tumulus with a length of about 60 m, built in the 4th century.
