K	KOU JB64W on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 自転車だと、高根大橋側から行くのが楽ですね。国宝向上寺三重塔が目玉となっていますが、ここに辿り着くまでの道のりや、地域の家族連れが遊んでいる光景が私は好きです。さらに上に行けば、潮音山の展望台がありますので、生口島の風景を楽しむのも良いかもしれません。静かな場所でとても良いところですね。 By bicycle, it's easy to go from the Takane Ohashi side. m	mksch00l on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 瀬戸田といえば西日光と呼ばれる耕三寺が有名で、多くの観光客（参拝者）を集めていますが、そのすぐ近くに国宝建造物（三重塔）を有する寺院がある事は、ほとんど知られていなくて、多くの人が素通りです向上寺は、室町中期に三原市にある仏通寺の寺外道場として創建されました、仏通寺は臨済宗ですが、こちらのお寺は現在、曹洞宗となっています、後に大火に逢い三重塔以外の建物は焼失して衰微していきました本堂の背後に建つ三重塔は室町中期の建築で国宝に指定されています、島嶼部にある国宝建造物は珍しく、日本ではこの塔と宮島の厳島神社と滋賀・竹生島にあるだけだとか、建物は和様を基調としながらも、華頭窓や庇を支える垂木が初層部のみ扇垂木になっているなど、随所に唐様（禅宗様）が取り入れられています背後にある展望台からは、瀬戸内海を背景にした塔の姿が美しいですね、瀬戸田出身の日本画の大家・故平山郁夫先生も、幼少の頃からこの光景に魅せられたようで、この場所で描かれたスケッチが平山郁夫美術館に残されています Speaking of Setoda, Kosanji Temple called Nishi-Nikko is famous and attracts many tourists (worshipers), but it is almost known that there is a temple with a national treasure building (triple tower) in the immediate vicinity. K	K on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 瀬戸内海の生口島にある曹洞宗寺院です。このお寺には、室町時代中期(1432年)に建立された三重塔があり、国宝に指定されています。一見して、いままで見てきた塔となんだか違うと感じたのは、二層と三層にも花頭窓がついていたからでした。車で参拝するには、高根大橋に向かう手前に、車で入れる道路があり、本堂のすぐ脇にでることができます。そこに3～4台の駐車スペースがあります。また、お寺の正面方向から歩いて上れるようで、数組が歩いていらしてました。 It is a Soto sect temple on Ikuchi Island in the Seto Inland Sea.
