★ ★ ★ ★ ★ JR東日本が管理する企業私有ダム。1920年（大正9年）に建設を開始し、1938年（昭和13年）に完成した。信濃川本川上に建設された唯一のダムとされる。ここで取水した水は千手・小千谷・新小千谷の3発電所に送られ、合計約45万kWの電力を生み出している。
 A private dam managed by JR East. Construction started in 1920 (Taisho 9) and completed in 1938 (Showa 13). It is said to be the only dam built on the Shinano River Honkawa. The water withdrawn here is sent to three power stations, Sente, Ojiya and Shin-Ojiya, producing a total of about 450,000 kW of electricity.
