★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good place to take a break on the Kibiji Cycle Trail. It’s a series of shrines and temples with beautiful timber walkways that link them together. Quiet and peaceful as the grounds are quite extensive. There is also a small series of shops at the base of the steps to the temple where you can get drinks and snacks.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ kibitsu shrine is the sole example of its specific architecture in japan and as such is worth a visit. its difficult to access in some parts due to the steep steps/incline to the shrine, but its beautiful and worth a visit!

// If you come from Okayama station > Kibitsu station > Shrine/Temple, When you want to go back Okayama St. from Kibitsu station , PLEASE use the same station gate. There is only one gate in this station. Then, you can across the railway by the small footpath.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When I arrived there during winter, it's very cold. It is a quiet place. You can take many photos with different scenes. You can go there by bicycle or train from Okayama. It is also good to visit there during autumn and spring. You can donate 100 Yen coin and take a fortune by dropping the stick and take an English fortune paper. It also has Archery Club. We can see students are training for archery.
Recommend season - Spring (good to ride a bicycle with cool weather) , Autumn and Summer (Outdoor sport activities and scene exploration)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is a large and beautiful shrine listed as a national heritage site due to its unique architecture. It is devoted to Kibitsu-hiko-no-mikoto (吉備津彦命), who is a legendary Prince whose kami is common in the areas of Okayama and Hiroshima.
The shrine itself has an impressive main building which was reconstructed in recent history, but i felt that that the smaller shrines situated around were more compelling. The main shrine was of course beautiful but the others were more authentic.
The place was full of workers and monks (priests? I don't know the correct verbiage for a shrine). The shrine is famous for its long wooden corridors.
Worship sites are easily accessible and not crowded even on a weekend. The place to buy omamori is open until 18h.
It is clearly well maintained.
Accessible by foot 1 km from Kibitsu station which is only 3 stops from Okayama station!!!
I thank them for their work.
The shrine cat is a cutie also.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful shrine. The scenery in the fall with the changing leaves is unbeatable. Completely serene environment filled with traditional Japanese architecture. Definitely recommend stopping to visit this beautiful shrine
