お役所の敷地にしては異常に広い敷地は学校当時の校庭である。
当時の校舎裏側には大船渡線の線路があり汽車が校内の敷地を
行き来していたので汽車が通過する高校としても有名であったそう。
今では汽車の代わりにＢＲＴのバスが行き来しております。
