祭神はもちろん「藤原時平」で、お芝居などの上では、菅原道真公を讒言を以て追い落とした憎まれ役である。その人物が祀られ、江戸期の庶民が守ってきたのは、ちょっと不思議な気がする。
境内には、江戸前期の年号の彫られた石像や石碑が見られ、歴史ある場所であることを偲ばせる。
