★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 東京鐵鋼八戸工場は単なる電炉製鋼事業者ではない。鉄くずのリサイクルから始まって、いまやほとんどの燃やせないごみのリサイクルに貢献している環境貢献企業である。
廃車、廃家電、廃プラ、医療系ごみ、アスベスト、PCB（低濃度）まで、処理してかつ、埋設が必要な廃棄物を出さない、高度に洗練された技術をもつ。
廃車やスチール缶などの屑鉄は、建築用棒鋼になり、回収された銅やアルミは専門メーカーに出荷、プラスチックは再生できるものは再生、できないものや医療系ごみは炭化されて製鉄の際の還元材として使用され、アスベストは電炉の熱でアスベスト繊維を完全に溶融して無害化し、スラグとなって固化、破砕されて砕石に代わる土木建築用資材となる。
本来の事業である、鉄鋼製品を生産しながら、その工程の特質を生かして、他者の出した廃棄物を資源化しながら、いわゆるゼロエミッションを実現している、優れた事業所であり、八戸の、日本の、誇りである。
 Tokyo Steel Hachinohe Factory is not just an electric furnace steel manufacturer. Starting with the recycling of scrap iron, it is now an environmentally friendly company that contributes to the recycling of most non-burnable waste.
It has highly sophisticated technology that treats scrapped cars, scrapped home appliances, scrapped plastics, medical waste, asbestos, and PCBs (low concentration) and does not generate waste that needs to be buried.
Slag iron such as scrapped cars and steel cans becomes steel bars for construction, collected copper and aluminum are shipped to specialized manufacturers, plastics can be recycled, non-renewable ones and medical waste are carbonized and returned during iron making. Used as a material, asbestos is used as a material for civil engineering and construction to replace crushed stone by completely melting asbestos fibers with the heat of an electric furnace to make them harmless, solidifying and crushing them into slag.
Hachinohe is an excellent business establishment that realizes so-called zero emissions while producing steel products, which is the original business, and utilizing the characteristics of the process to recycle waste generated by others. I'm proud of Japan.
