ひたちなか市内に整備された約280（2019年現在）の公園のうち、ここ佐野中学区にある61の公園のうちのひとつで、同様の公園がさわ野杜団地内には10あり、ここ樫の杜公園が最大の公園です。
公園設備としては、大型複合遊具、ジャングルジム、鉄棒、ブランコ、動物を模した幼児向け乗用遊具が設置されていることに加え、公園西側はかなり広い広場となっており、球技もそれなりに楽しめそうな広場です。公園内にはトイレも駐車場もありませんんが、隣接してふれあいセンターがあるため、そちらの設備を利用することが可能です。
