★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 小児専門薬として有名な「宇津救命丸」は日本各地に様々な形で残っている「家伝薬」の一つで、その中でも特に知名度の高い老舗です。「宇津救命丸」を創立したのは「宇津家」で、十数代続いた由緒ある家柄だそうです。下野国の国主だった宇都(津)宮家の当主国綱が慶長二年(1597)に豊臣秀吉によって突然備前国へ改易処分を受けて配流された時、同家の家臣だった宇津権右衞門がこの地(下野国高根沢西根郷)に帰農して、半農半医の家業の中で「家伝薬」を施薬として地域の人々に提供したのが「宇津救命丸」の始まりだそうです。幕末までは、この薬の調合法は「秘中の秘」で「一子相伝」で受け継いだ当主のみが斎戒沐浴して調合に励んでいたそうです。
