★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 享保4年(1719)、5代藩主吉宗の夫人長松院が建造し、本尊の准胝観音を寄進した。准胝観音は婦人の守り本尊で、6代藩主宗村が母の志を継いで延享2年(1745)に再建している。そばには芭蕉の句碑「あやめ草足に結ばんわらじの緒」や、仙台俳諧を興隆させた大淀三千風の供養碑があり、「心」の字の形をした池の跡も残されている。
