青池を含む一二湖自然休養林はドライブよりも十二湖駅からのトレッキングなどに向いているのかもしれません。ゆっくりと時間をかけて自然に触れ合うのが良いでしょう。今回、青池には落ち葉が多くあり、青く透明な湖面を堪能できませんでした。少し残念。行くならば、落ち葉の少ない新緑の時期か、逆に紅葉で綺麗な落ち葉が水面に落ちる様子を愛でるのが良いかもしれませんね。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 十二湖は世界自然遺産登録地域には含まれていませんが、世界自然遺産白神山地の様相を体験できる森です。池巡りしながら散策やトレッキングできるトレイルが整備され、体力や目的に合わせて組み合わせ歩くことができます。各駐車場から近い池と鶏頭場の池から青池を経てブナ自然林辺りまでは、カジュアルシューズ程度でも大丈夫なくらい整備された遊歩道です。森の奥の池を巡るトレッキングトレイルはアップダウンが緩いですが山道なので、軽トレッキングシューズ程度の足ごしらえは必要です。青池を含め池にばかり注目されますが、世界自然遺産白神山地ならではの樹林の魅力を味わってください。樹齢およそ300年のブナの巨木や、圧倒的な存在感があるカツラの古木が見られます。
