伊勢塚古墳を観てからここへ来たので、伊勢塚古墳の興奮が冷めて無かったのでしょう。
印象が薄いのです。
もう一度、見ないといけないと思っている古墳です。
後期古墳の墳丘、石室としては、立派な方だと感じています。

現地解説板によると、復原直径19メートル、復原高さ5.8メートルの円墳。横穴式石室は全長9.5メートル、高さ2.5メートル、幅2.1メートルです。石室は、玄武岩質の地石を用い天井石は7枚で、規模的には市内に現存するもので最大だそうです。
昭和60年、石室側壁部の崩壊防止のため、解体のうえ補強工事を実施し、併せて墳丘の復原を行なったとあります。
「古墳」が造られるロケーション、古墳内部にある「主体部」の構造など詳しく知ることができますよ。
駐車場はありません。ご注意下さい。
