Japan Snowsports - Iiyama

Stayed at this lovely place with my wife over a summer weekend to escape the heat in Tokyo. The house is cozy, the breakfast is the best we ever had in Japan and the hosts are super nice! The area has a lot of summer activities such as zip lining, mountain biking and kayaking on nearby lake Nojiri. There are also a few restaurants and bars nearby, but make sure to try out some of the in-house food, which is amazing. I hope we can come back this winter!

We absolutely loved our stay at JPS Lodge in Madarao! Dutchie and Annie were incredible hosts and are both supremely talented! We enjoyed every facet of our stay - the culinary delights, the ski lessons, the guiding - all of it was top notch!

Home away from home. Dutchie and Annie were the perfect hosts. The highlight has to be the delicious breakfast/dinner, homemade breads and local wine pairings. Super attentive and made our last minute weekend super easy. We’ll be back!

I've spent many of nights at Japan Snowsports, either for a delicious 6 course dinner, a very filling 4 course dinner and plenty of overnight stays. The vibe is incredible, it feel homely, cozy and Dutchy and Annie are the nicest people ever. What made it even better was the amazing pow we rode during the day. They both know the area, not just Madarao, really well and having them show me around Myoko, Nozawa and Madarao was an absolute joy! Can't wait for the borders to reopen so I can head back there asap! arigato!

We went there for a weekend stay with friends, and had a great time! Very cosy ambience, the hosts Dutchie and Annie were not just extremely friendly and helpful, but also amazing chefs! The surrounds were also beautiful, and we enjoyed everyday the view from our room! Hopefully we can be back during winter.

Wonderful place to stay, eat, and relax! Annie and Dutchie were amazing; absolutely the best hosts! Our experience was nothing short of breathtaking. I highly recommend reserving your next weekend getaway here. What made it great was not only the fabulous skiing, but the amazing customer service we received from Dutchie and Annie! This was the best ski trip and experience my family had in Japan due to our knowledgeable hosts. Annie and Dutchie are not only knowledgeable about Japan and the culture, they are skiing/snowboarding experts as well! If you’re a coffee drinker, you’ll love the superb coffee! The accommodations are cozy and family oriented. This facility is a one stop getaway. When you stay, you must reserve the 6 course meal prepared by Chef Dutchie! If you’re into wine paring, please partake in the experience as well. Each course was equally delicious. Each morning we had a healthy breakfast from freshly baked bread prepared by Dutchie, freshly squeezed orange juice, full spread of Greek yogurt and toppings and an omelette that left you wanting more. Everything served was fabulous, including the craft beer. Annie and Dutchie provided 5 star customer service from the room and establishment aesthetics, scheduling our ski rental reservations, reserving our day 2 dinner reservations to blowing off our snow impacted car. This couple is a dynamic duo filled with kindness, hospitality, and passion. Our family will definitely visit again! Thank you Annie and Dutchie for making our Christmas Break memorable!

Annie and Dutchie took really good care of us during our weekend trip. Everything was beyond expectation. The lodge feels very homey, the beds are so comfortable, the wood fire in the shared area smells great and it was so nice enjoying local drinks with all the other guests and friendly staff there. The food is amazing. They bake the best sourdough bread and serve it as part of breakfast. We booked Dutchie's course dinner - each plate was beautiful, special and delicious. They are both certified snowboard/ski instructors. We took lessons with Annie - it was very enjoyable and we made a lot of progress. Already looking forward to hopefully staying there again!
