通称、道通さま。そのもとは沖田神社の末社・道通宮とも言われています。道通さまには「丑三つ時にお詣りし、大木に五寸釘を打ち込んで呪いをかける」とか、「お願いごとをする時は生卵をお供えし、お宮を一回りしてきて、生卵が無くなっていたら願いを聞き届けてくれた印」など面白い話があります。さて、こちらの道通さま。岡山市史Ⅴには、「萬町に鎮座。祭神は宇迦之御魂命」とありました。どうやら物騒な信仰ではなく、商売繁盛、家運隆昌のようです。「萬町」とはこの辺りの旧町名であり、ご年配の方に伺うと、「その昔、町内の篤志家が建立したが、他は不明。」との事です。このように町内会、もしくは個人・会社が建立した神社を岡山市内ではよく見かけます。その都度お話を伺うと「昔は子どもたちを集めて夏祭りをした」とか「町内の盆踊りがあった」と言われます。そして人口の減少や住民の入れ替わりにより、付き合いが薄くなっている事から、だいたい放置されている神社が多いようです。そんな中、こちらはいつお参りしても、しっかりと手入れもされています。夏祭りなど行事は無くても、今も岩田町町内の皆さんの拠り所なんだなと感じました。
