★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 一昨年の台風の爪痕だろうか。ただでさえ小さなお社で目立たないのに、屋根瓦は剥がれていて手付かず…どうしても、そんなぼろぼろの屋根に最初に目がいってしまうので、あることに気づいて一瞬目を疑った。
素晴らしい木鼻と柱を持っているのが道向かいからでも分かったからだ。獅子も龍も、まるで生きているかのように美しい宮彫り。
netで調べると、厳島神社とは、市杵島姫神（イチキシマヒメ）を祭神とする神社。イチキシマヒメ（イツキシマヒメとも）は、日本神話に登場する女神で、水の神様、とある。
ここから海に向かって先はおそらく埋立地。昔は海岸線はこの神社のあたりだったのではないでしょうか。
漁や木材・荷物等の運航が盛んで海街が賑やかだった当時が偲ばれます。表に面する屋根瓦はまだ修繕されていませんが、お社の裏側は、これ以上傾いてしまわないようにしっかりと添木と支柱で補強してありました。この地域にとって大切な守り神のようです。

Probably a landfill from here to the sea. In the old days, the coastline might have been around this shrine.
It is reminiscent of the time when the sea town was lively with fishing, timber and luggage operations. The roof tiles facing the front have not been repaired yet, but the back of the company was reinforced with splints and stanchions to prevent it from tilting any further. It seems to be an important guardian deity for this area.
