山間のなかにひっそりと湧き出る、この清らかな水は『延命清水』とよばれ、むかしから地域の方に愛されている名水である。
山岳仏教の拠点である山寺薬師の脇から、こんこんと湧き出ており、「万病に効く水」、「若返りの水」といわれる。
まだ車が発展していないころ、背中に一升瓶をかつぎ、往復何十キロもかけ、ボロボロになりながら、この水を求め歩いてきた住民も多くいたと聞く。
ふと頭上に目を上げると、不動明王などの石仏やいくつかの祠が祭られているのがわかる。
ほかにも板倉区は親鸞聖人の妻・恵信尼が晩年暮らした土地でもあり、なにかしらの信仰がゆかりが深い場所である。
気になるお味は、夏でもひんやりしていて、とても飲み心地が良い。
ここの湧き水でつくったコーヒーはとてもステキな味がします。

[Joetsu's Reimu, which is said to work for all diseases]
This clean water that gently springs up in the mountains is called “Shinsei Shimizu” and has been loved by the local people for a long time.
It springs from the side of Yamadera Yakushi, the base of mountain Buddhism, and is said to be “water for all illness” and “water for rejuvenation”.
When the car was not developed yet, I heard that there were many residents who walked for this water while putting a bottle of jar on their back and tens of kilometers back and forth.
When you look up above your head, you can see that stone buddhas such as the Fudo Myoo and some buds are celebrated.
In addition, Itakura Ward is the land where Shinsei's wife, Eshin, lived in his later years, and is a place deeply related to some kind of faith.
The taste that I am interested in is cool even in summer and very comfortable to drink.
The coffee made with the spring water here has a very nice taste.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 「新潟県の名水」巡り上越編、この日の４ヶ所目は上越市板倉区東山寺にある、山岳仏教の拠点・山寺薬師裏参道入口脇の湧水「延命清水」。
ここの清水は、樹齢700年を超える樹林の下方から枯れる事無く湧き出しており、「若がえりの水」、「万病にきく水」とも言われる霊水との事。
難病の人々も、湧水の一滴で命が救われた事から、「延命清水」と呼ばれているそうです。
蛇足ですが、山寺薬師は千数百年前「紀躬高」によって開かれたお寺のようです。大同年間（806～809）頃だと思われます。
なお「紀躬高」は、ご本人の話から板倉区猿供養寺地区に伝わる「二猿伝説」に登場する、「信心深い猿の生まれ変わり」であるらしいとの事。

The fresh water here springs from the bottom of the over 700-year-old forest without dying, and it is the spirit water that is also called “Wakagari Water” and “Water for All Diseases”.
People with intractable illnesses are called “life-prolonging Shimizu” because their lives were saved with a drop of spring water.
Although it is a snake foot, Yakuji Yamadera seems to be a temple that was opened by "Kisotaka" several thousand years ago. It seems to be around the same year (806-809).
“Kisotaka” seems to be a “rebirth of a godly monkey” that appears in “Nikaru Legend”, which is transmitted from the story of the person to the monkey sanctuary in Itakura Ward.
