★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 石田神社はさぬき市寒川町石田東にある社です。近代社格では郷社です。
社号標には当社号の地、左右に式内布勢神社、式内大蓑彦神社と有ります。この二つの式内社の境外末社のようです。
創建については二つの説があり、一つは「全讃史」には戦国時代の天正年間(1573～1593年)末、細川国弘により創建されたと記載が有ります。
二つ目の説は平安時代、承平六年(936年)宝蔵妙海法印が勧請したと云う説です。当社はこちらの平安期創建説を推しているようです。
当社の裏手(北側)ち有る光明寺の境内には石田城(別名、小十九間城、雄装熊城)の本丸があり当社は城の鎮守を兼ねていた可能性も考えられる。その為か当社の別名として雄装熊八幡神社、小十九間八幡神社とも云われています。

また当社を含むこのあたり一帯は雄装熊公園として整備されています。新さぬき百景の一つです。
また境内ないには石田神社境内古墳群が有ります。
今回初めてお詣りしましたが綺麗に掃除が行き届いており清々しい気持ちで参拝させて頂きました。
 Ishida Shrine is located in Ishida Higashi, Sangawa Town, Sanuki City. It is a village shrine in the modern shrine.
The company name is the place of our company, Shikinai Fuse Shrine on the left and right, and Shikinai Ominohiko Shrine. It seems to be the end of the precincts of these two Shikinai companies.
There are two theories about its construction, and one is stated in "Zensanshi" that it was built by Kunihiro Hosokawa at the end of the Tensho era (1573-1593) during the Warring States period.
The second theory is that it was solicited by the Hozo Myokai Houjin in the 6th year of Jōhei (936) during the Heian period. We seem to be pushing for this Heian period founding theory.
There is a main enclosure of Ishida Castle (also known as Kojukuma Castle, Oso Kuma Castle) in the precincts of Komyoji Temple, which is behind our company (north side), and it is possible that our company also served as a guardian of the castle. For that reason, it is also called Osokuma Hachiman Shrine and Kojyu-ma Hachiman Shrine as another name for our company.

In addition, the area around here, including our company, is maintained as Osokuma Park. It is one of the 100 new Sanuki views.
In addition, there is a group of ancient burial mounds in the precincts of Iwata Shrine.
