諏訪大社上社の末社で、祭神は大己貴命・建御名方命・事代主命、祀られた年歴は明らかではない。桓武天皇の延暦年間の末（800年）頃に、諏訪神社式年造営の行われた時、この社も末社の故をもって御造営されたと伝えられるところからもその古さがうかがわれる。（茅野市教育委員会の説明板より一部抜粋）
