★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When interested in a little japanese history, that would be a good place to go. How work was done below ground is explained pretty good using puppets.
From here, Takeda castle (the castle in the sky, isn't far, which is also interesting to see. No buildings left there, though.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A few things you can buy and a quick place to grab lunch if you are in the area. You can also pan for silver which isn't too expensive. Worth a look if you are passing through the area. Also has a museum if you are interested in that type of place which costs 100 yen.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A historical silver mine. 2 waterfalls. The entrance has a taste of Japanese garden. You can see inside of the mine through walking about 1km. There are some human like figures to inform us the life of mining. They are a bit scary.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In the depths of summer this place remains cool (in all senses of the word). Well worth a visit to understand what lies underneath our feet...deep underneath our feet!
Walking the mine tunnels brings home the dangers of this work, and the museum is well equipped. Fascinating place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very impressive to walk through the mine. The main tour route through the mine was well presented. There is also an app so you can take a virtual tour from home.
The taxi driver gave us a lot of information on the way from the station.
There is a hiking trail around the mountain but there was no map and the scant signpost did not indicate how much more of trail remained for us to explore or if there were any attractions we should look for.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good place to go in any weather to get out of the elements. The mine entrance is near the parking lot and you can walk about 1500m of the ridiculously long tunnels. Good history lesson and informative museum next to the parking lot too. The souvenir shop didn't have anything for us to get, but if you like power stones or mineral rocks, they have a lot of types. If the weather is good, it's also nice to walk outside too, and find all the cave/mine openings from hundreds of years ago.
