We tried to leave our luggage at the reception, but the place was closed. Supposedly it is open between 8:00 am - 11:00 am to leave your things while you wait for the check-in, but there was nobody to receive us.

This place was so lovely ! The staff were so friendly and it gave us a lil taste of traditional Japanese house. They were very helpful with questions and getting to Naoshima (the nearby art island) and I would HIGHLY recommend this place !! Thank you so much for such a lovely stay!

Amazing place that I will be sure to return to. That staff were very kind and fun and I even made some new friends. Highly recommended place. Also, while being a guesthouse, it looks and feels like a tiny ryokan!

We stayed only 1 night and I wish we stayed longer. Very friendly and cozy guesthouse with a nice garden which can be enjoyed from the beautiful communal space with tatami floors. The staff is very friendly and they speak English very well. The guesthouse is located in a nice and peaceful countryside area with a 15min train ride from Okayama and the station is closeby. I have stayed in ryokans, hostels, temple and hotels during my trip, this place was my favorite of all. We got the private room, the rooms are divided by walls, not sliding doors so there is very good sound isolation from other guests. You have tatami floors and you sleep on futons, so you can have an authentic Japanese experience.

A bit out of the way in a residential area, but still easy to reach via JR line from Okayama. The staff are laid back and friendly and speak good English. It's an old Japanese house with a beautiful garden, all the rooms and facilities are very clean and nice. Definitely not barrier-free though.

We didn't feel really good in that place, we have spent 2 nights there, but I think one is more than enough if you want to try Japanese house. The place itself is okay, although it wasn't clean enough up for our standards, especially the kitchen area. Even though hosts seemed nice and friendly, we didn't feel welcome for some reason. And things like extra fee for towel always put me away, as it was very little fee, that on top of the room price was just nothing, and it seemed weird to be charged.

I would give a 6 star rating if I can. The staffs were very kind and made me feel like I am home despite arriving really late and fully soaked after cycling in the rain for 14 hours. The facilities are very nice, especially the fully equipped kitchen with cute tablewares. I hope I could have the chance to stay in this hostel again someday, of course without being late and drenched in rain.

I stayed at Igusa Guest house last week as it seemed to be a nice quaint place to spend a rest day from my Honshu cycling trip. The guest house was pretty on the inside and out and my stay was as comfortable as can be. The owner, Ishi-san was very helpful with suggestions.
