以前、義父がお世話になっていました。義父は進行性核上性麻痺で歩くことも話すこともできませんでした。唯一、頭だけは正常でした。ある日、義父から転院したいと文字盤を介して言われました。素人の私には義父の意思を読み取れなかった。担当の看護師さんに相談して、専門の方に話を聞いてもらいました。どうやら義父は施設の方達に不満があったようでした。数日後、胃漏の交換で国際福祉病院へ入院しました。翌日退院しましたが、その日の夜8時に施設から電話で危篤の知らせがありました。私達が施設に着いたときには、既に義父は亡くなっていました。病室に亡くなった義父の私物は置いておけないと、片っ端から廊下に放り出されました。おとなしい夫は、それらを黙って拾い集めていました。ー誤嚥性肺炎。診断書にはそう書かれていました。
